Sponsor a Classroom

Basic supplies that we see in almost every classroom in the USA are in short supply in rural Uganda. Paper, pencils, erasers, pens, crayons, workbooks for students, chalk, blackboard erasers, folders, calculators, pens, world maps and flash cards are not a common sight in the classrooms of the students in rural Uganda.

Please help! You can make a real difference by supporting a classroom of students.
Through a tax-deductible contribution or a direct donation of supplies you can provide a classroom with books, pencils, erasers, pens, chalk, paper, world maps, pictures, posters, incentives like stickers and teacher supplies necessary to meet the most basic educational needs.

Through your financial contribution or contribution of supplies to our classroom partners you leave a lasting and sustaining gift in the lives of these students. Here is a comparison picture of a classroom without donated supplies and a classroom with supplies:

Children Receiving SuppliesWhat about other school supply items?
You are certainly welcome to collect and ship other school supplies that are not on the above list. We have found through past experience that it is best to keep in mind that the shipping costs to Uganda are significant. Spiral notebooks and notebook paper are heavy and these items can be easily purchased in Uganda. We would therefore like to suggest considering a financial contribution toward the purchase of these supplies with your collected items. Any financial contributions should be forwarded by mail to the address above or made through paypal as indicated.

How do we send our collected supplies?
The cost to send the school supplies by USPS mail can range from $65-$100 a box. The best approach is to collect supplies that fill two large flat rate boxes (The cost of sending a large flat rate box is approximately $54.00) so that you aren't spending significant amounts to send items that can be purchased in Uganda. You can then fundraise to donate funds to buy more supplies in Uganda.

Mailing info: Post Office: US Post Office-Latham
